Community Guidelines

For Users

These community guidelines apply to all areas of Empowr Club community interaction, both on the platform and in other online spaces and events affiliated with Empowr Club. By using Empowr Club you agree to abide by them.‍

Empowr Club is an inclusive community where you can engage in the book-related discussions you’ve always imagined, whether that’s with friends and fellow book lovers, or even directly with the author. Empowr Club is a space where diversity of thought and opinion is welcomed, but hate/harassment is not.
Empowr Club is by the readers for the readers.
Empowr Club is led by authors and powered by you. Your interactions with each other are essential to establishing Empowr Club as a thriving and inclusive community built on dynamic, engaging conversations. Your discussions with authors, moderators, and other readers will build and expand Empowr Club allowing for more authors and even more readers to join our community.
Be Respectful and Considerate: We want everyone who joins Empowr Club to have the best experience imaginable. The Empowr Club community is knowledgeable and diverse, which means that not everyone will share the same perspective. Empowr Club encourages a diversity of opinion and believes our community will be a great place to share your ideas. Respectful and lively debates are welcomed, as challenging the opinions of others is one of the things that makes Empowr Club great.
Zero Tolerance for Harassment and Discrimination: Empowr Club is dedicated to a harassment-free environment for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, physical appearance, disability, body size, age, race, or religion. Harassing individuals for their opinions is unacceptable, and hate speech, bigotry, threats, and ad hominem attacks will not be tolerated.
Stick with Original Content: Empowr Club prides itself on our original content, as well as content created by authors, our moderators, and you. We put authors and their work first in order to celebrate what they are creating and create a space for them to engage with it. We support original, creative contributions to Empowr Club and ask that all users respect the creation of that content and keep in mind that plagiarism will not be tolerated. Content that is shared on Empowr Club with permission and/or credit to the original creator is allowed and encouraged.
Authenticity is Key: Empowr Club is all about learning and original conversations, and we want you to bring your authentic self to BookClubs. We ask that you do not participate anonymously or with a pseudonym*, misrepresent your identity or create accounts in order to harass authors or other members, abuse features, or evade our rules. Spam is prohibited, as are spammers and scammers who might bring that type of content to our community, as well as blatant self-promotion or promotion of products or services not affiliated with Empowr Club Should your participation in Empowr Club be prevented without the use of a pseudonym for legitimate purposes, please contact support@empowrclub.com
Have Fun, Stay Curious: Empowr Club is here for you to create a community around books while you challenge yourself and engage in new and exciting conversations. We know you’ll bring incredible discussions to the community and ask that you prioritize adding value to the community and don’t spend time diminishing it. We can’t wait to hear the conversations you have and be a part of our reading ecosystem.

For Book Clubs

Book clubs must not feature hate speech of any form. Attacking a person or a community based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, sex, gender, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disabilities or other attributes will result in the removal of any public club from the Empowr Club App.
Book clubs must not share any user's private information (such as home phone number or address). Members must not threaten to expose anyone’s private information or help others to do so.
Book clubs must not feature obscene, lewd, or pornographic content. This includes any links to videos, podcasts, images, or other media that contain this type of content.
Book clubs must not promote the ridicule, mocking, disparagement, intimidation, harassment, or abuse of anyone. This includes repetitive or severely negative comments that may cross the line into harassment, as well as wishing or imagining the abuse of another person.
Book clubs must not incite or threaten physical harm against another, or encourage self-harm or suicide. Book clubs must not advocate the violent overthrow of any government. This includes the promotion of terrorism or extremist violence.
In general, book clubs must not promote, encourage, or engage in any illegal behavior, including the sale, purchase, or sharing of illegal goods or services. This will result in the removal of any public club from Empowr Club, the account associated with the moderator/member may be revoked.
Public clubs are open for all users to join. Private clubs are limited to those who have been invited by the club moderator. All public club content is subject to review by club moderators, Empowr Club admin, and Empowr Club support at any time. Moderators are responsible for reviewing posts made inside a public club and users posting inside a public club, with Empowr Club admin reviewing as needed. Once reviewed, any content in violation can be removed at the moderator or Empowr Club admin’s discretion, and a user may be removed from a public club for violating the Empowr Club Community Guidelines. In addition, public clubs that violate Empowr Club Community Guidelines may be made private or removed from Empowr Club. If you see any activity that violates Empowr Club Community Guidelines, please report it to us here.
Empowr Club admins do not review content in a private club unless it potentially violates the law or threatens the life or safety of a user, so such violations must be reported. In private clubs, moderators exercise their own judgment about when and how to use their moderator powers to uphold the trust ad safety of their community.
